Julius Caesars account of his Civil War vs Pompey. It should be noted that this war is especially tragic because Pompey is Caesar's Father-In-Law and friend, as well as one-time member with Caesar of the Triumvirate. (It is also coincidental that Caesar was eventually assassinated in Pompey's Theater, where the Senate was temporarily convened because the Senate's Building in the Forum was at that time destroyed by fire.) (Part of Pompey's Theater can now be seen from Campo di Fiori Piazza).

Imagine if Hitler had won WWII, and then wrote a book about it. By contrast, the Celtic Holocaust far exceeded the atrocities of WWII in that Caesar slaughtered a full third of the population of Gaul, and sold another third into slavery. And yet we celebrate Caesar for an entire month every year, as July is named for him.
